και 11 χρόνια (το τελευταίο τους άλμπουμ είναι το «The Incident» το 2009) έχει μπει …στον πάγο (επίσημη ανακοίνωση για διάλυση δεν έχει βγει)
είναι οι Άγγλοι προοδευτικοί ρόκερς PORCUPINE TREE.
Το συγκρότημα
είναι δημιούργημα του πολυπράγμων και πολυδιάστατου μουσικού STEVEN WILSON (βασικός τραγουδιστής και κιθαρίστας), με έτος δημιουργίας το 1987.
Στην αρχή ο STEVEN WILSON, ο οποίος έγραφε όλη την μουσική της
μπάντας, παρουσίασε την μουσική του ως σόλο έργο, μέχρι και την κυκλοφορία του
πρώτου άλμπουμ με τίτλο «On the Sunday of Life» το 1992, οπότε και βγήκε με την μορφή
κανονικής μπάντας.

Στα πρώιμα χρόνια το στυλ της μουσικής
των PORCUPINE TREE ήταν
ψυχεδελικό ροκ στα μονοπάτια των PINK FLOYD, εξ ου και το προσωνύμιο που τους απέδωσε ο
τύπος ''The New Pink Floyd''!
Με την πάροδο
του χρόνου, οι μουσικές
κατευθύνσεις του συγκροτήματος
άλλαξαν, έτσι στα τέλη της δεκαετίας του 1990, η μπάντα πλησίασε έναν πιο mainstream εναλλακτικό ήχο ροκ, ενώ στις αρχές της
δεκαετίας του 2000 κινήθηκε σε πιο προοδευτική μεταλλική κατεύθυνση.

μέσα στα τραγούδια των PORCUPINE TREE, από συνθέσεις μακροσκελείς,

μελαγχολικές αποχρώσεις μέχρι και metal τραγούδια!
